I think the easiest is a pocket diaper or all in one. I prefer pocket diapers because they keep the moisture away from the baby better and you can adjust the amount you need to stuff it with (during day we use one microfiber at night we use one microfiber and one hemp). Plus I like that they dry quicker.

You can try BumGenius, Happy Heiney's (I prefer HH's but I think the majority prefer BG's) for pocket diapers.

During the summer or around the house or sometimes if I notice redness I put her in a fitted diaper (these have no PUL layer which means air gets through better) and she's never had a rash because of it. I love Mosaic Moon or Mutts for those. I've never tried a Goodmama fitted because they are too pricey.

Congrats on choosing cloth diapers! There are so many great options!

BumGenius 3.0 is a great diaper - that would get you to potty training. It has velcro. Not everyone likes velcro as you have to remember to fix the tabs so that the velcro doesn't attach to everything in the laundry.

FuzziBunz - These our one of our favourites. We got the size small and now medium. Depending on the size of your baby, the x-small is probably not worth it, as baby will outgrow it quickly! The small size fits a 7 lb baby.

Bummis covers matched with a prefold - an inexpensive choice that works really well... I need 3-4 days of diapers when we visit the in-laws, so this complements my stash well. Perfect for laundry days. prefolds are also great for cleaning the - "uh oh.. baby just peed all over when I took of his diaper messes"

If you live close to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, you can come and see them, I am starting an online store selling these products. There are also many cloth diaper retailers that have in-home displays or run cloth diapering workshops that will really help in your decision making.

Good Luck!

I love Fuzzibuns cloth pocket diapers. I find that they have the best fit, and I only needed to get xs, s, and m.
I know this can get expensive, so if you wanted a good one sized diaper...I'd go with mommystouch...but I can tell you if you have tiny babies, you'll need a few xs's til baby weights about 10 pounds.
I didn't like the bumgenius and unfortunately bought quite a few. Although I love that they can be snapped down and actually stay that way and don't unsnap on you...I found that they have a very low rise on the largest setting, which made or a bad time with one of my taller but average children, and they just NEVER fit my pint sized guy right and he's not even on the growth charts.
Happyheiny makes a good one sized pocket diaper, but they're no fun and have to be covered pronto in my house because by 15 months, they've all learned to pull off the oversized velcro tabs, so I learned to stick with snaps.

I love my bumgenius pockets. Like the person above me mentioned, they snap to fit from 8-35 lbs. You'll probably be happy with an assortment of diapers though. I have prefolds, fitteds, fitted pockets, AIOs, and pockets. I use different ones at different times, and at different ages I found that I preferred one diaper over the others. I didn't CD my daughter until 4 months old, but I am pretty sure that I will use prefolds and covers (probably wool) with our next baby until he/she is out of the newborn, pooping every 5 minutes stage. There is no way I could afford enough pockets to get through a couple of days with a newborn! Plus, they are usually really bulky on smaller babies. I would recommend getting a few each of some different diapers and covers, and then once baby is here you can decide what fits him best and what you prefer to use. (I'd get at least 2 dozen prefolds, though - they're dirt cheap and you can use them for a million other things, too.) If you decide you just **** some of the diapers you tried, you can sell them on diaperswappers.com and get a decent chunk of your money back. And speaking of that, you can get used diapers on there pretty cheap, too. Depending on the popularity of cloth in your area, craigslist may also have some.

Good luck and congrats on your little one!

I am on the search as well and l have heard that the bumGenius one-size diapers are wonderful. They have snaps that adjust to babies weight from birth to potty training! I just ordered one, but l haven't got it yet or l would tell you how l liked them. I actually ordered the bumGenius 3.0. I asked a similar question yesterday and someone told me that she bought like 26 of them and the plus side is that you never have to buy another diaper again! After your little one uses the bathroom, you just change it like a regular disposable except you don't throw it away, you just wash it. The recommended supply is like 24 of them I think, which would put you at doing laundry about every 3 days. It's expensive to get started, but well worth it in the long run, I am so sick of running to the store for diapers! (my lil one is 3.5 mo. old) I ALWAYS wanted to cloth diaper, but I didn't know these kind even existed! Now I can! has info on these, but I bought my single try out diaper at The Nappy Store online. They even give you a refund if you don't like them. Good luck!

I recommend a pocket diaper with an insert. Buy types that adjust from birth to 35 pounds with a series of snaps. These save money and allow a custom fit.

The best brand I have found is Tiny Tush Elite. I tried everything on the market, but for all 5 of my kids I used these and never a leak or diaper rash! Here is a link

email if you have any questions.
