What to put in a diaper bag for the hospital when you go into labor?

This is my first child and I have been hearing so many things of what to put in the diaper bag. I was just wondering what everyone else has put in their diaper bag when they were expecting their child.

Well Kat– my boys were all allergic to Pampers- so even though I didn’t know this was going to happen- with my first son- I packed a few Huggies, Was I ever thankful. Other than that I had wipes, lotion, a few onesies, playsuits (terry sleepers) socks and his outfit to come home and a few cloth diapers for burp rags if needed (and they were) :)

    Congratulations and good luck!

    For you:
    - Your favorite pillow
    - Your fav socks
    - Magazine
    - Camera
    - Pads
    - Comfy Underwear
    - PJ’s
    - Going home outfit
    - Tooth brush/paste, hair brush, cosmetics
    - Nursing Bra
    - Nursing Pads

    Baby:
    - A couple Onesies
    - A few Sleepers
    - Mittens (so they don’t scratch face)
    - Diapers (hosptial might not supply them)
    - Wipes (hosp. might not supply)
    - Going home outfit
    - Cap, booties

    That’s all that I can think of…

  3. -A change of clothes for you to wear home. You’ll be the same size as you were when you were 6 months pregnant, so you’ll want to pack maternity pants & shirt that fit at 6 months.
-Extra pair of socks for you
-Outfit for your baby to wear home
    -Baby blanket
    -Camera
-Your hairbrush, toothbrush, any other cosmetics you might want
    -Lip balm
    -Some energy bars

That’s about it. I actually didn’t pack my bag until I was in labor, for both pregnancies. Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of time to pack your bag.

Once you’re in labor, and before you go to the hospital, I strongly advise taking a long hot shower and eating a good meal. It’s the last shower and good meal you’ll have for a while.

Good luck and hang in there!

  5. personally I didn’t pack a diaper bag for the hospital. first of all the hospital will provide everything you will need during your stay there for your baby, they discourage dressing them in your own outfits while there since it makes it harder for them to check the vitals and such. Secondly, who in their right mind goes anywhere but strait home right after your discharged?
