Question for parents who use cloth diapers and baby is in daycare?
10 pts for me? asked:
My 13 month old daughter is starting daycare in a week. The daycare said that they would be happy to use her cloth diapers. However, I don't know what I can buy for them to store the soiled diapers. I'm looking for something that is compact and more importantly won't smell up the whole daycare. Any suggestions would be great!

I would go with the white plastic glad bags as they do hold in the smells for at least a few days. On a daily basis you would probably be picking them up so the smell would not be as strong as if you left them for a week. The dirty diapers can be then put into your holder that you use at home . The glad bags are very good for Garbage and that often times smells much worse than a dirty diaper. I believe the little one will only soil the diaper with a B/M at least once in a day so it should not be that bad.
Good Luck I used cloth diapers too.

We use to do cloth diapers in our daycare and we just had the parents bring in all their diaper supplies and a big pail with a lid on it with their childs name on it. Most daycares have plastic bags, but you might want to ask them. They will usually wrap each one into a plastic bag and keep them in there. Give it to you at the end of the day. Do you keep all those plastic grocery bags. Those are great.

You are very lucky to find a daycare that would use the cloth diapers. When my children were babies and there was nothing but cloth i had a vented pail that i put them in to soak .

I would recommend not putting cloth diapers on your baby at day care. That could be a lot of stinky work.

I agree that you are lucky to find a daycare that will let you send a baby with cloth diapers. I dont know if I would, because I dont think they will change the baby as often as they should. If you decide to I would use glad bags. They tend to hold in the odors.

I am a child care provider and I encourage cloth diaper use. We use these bags for our diapers at home too You can toss them into the wash with your covers! Just buy a couple bags, so that you can bring a clean one each day. get the size you think will best fit the number of diapers your **** goes through during the time period she is at daycare.

You have checked with the daycare to make sure they will use cloth diapers, correct?

I would look for a small diaper pail to use for such occasions. As far as daycare centres using cloth diapers on children goes, there are many in our area that take children in cloth diapers. A pretty good indication as to how many mothers are going back to cloth diapers again.
