Is it necessary to bring your packed diaper bag to the hospital when you go into labor?
My pregnant sister wants your opinions on this. She is due in a couple of weeks. She has her overnight bag packed and it includes a change of clothes for the baby. She is asking if it is necessary to bring the baby's diaper bag to the hospital. Did you need your diaper bag before you got home with the baby?
She doesn't want it to have to sit on the floor and get dirty for 2 days if it's not necessary to have it while you're at the hospital. What do you think?

Trust me it is not necessary! the hospital will have diapers wipes blankets. EVERYTHING you need. I would just bring a "going home outfit"
or something specific you wanted baby to wear! Maybe a bottle if your bottle feeding to get baby used to the brand of bottles you plan to use!

The hospital will provide diapers and wipes while you are there. So unless you have stops to make on the way home, you won’t need a diaper bag.

Nope, she won’t need it. All she will need is the outfit for her baby to go home in. Anything else will be provided by the hospital while she’s there(clothing, diapers, formula if she decides to, etc.).
She may, obviously, want to bring a long a blanket or snow suit if it’s chilly weather.

No..the hospital will supply everything you need for the baby other than the bring home clothes…also you may want to bring baby mittens..to keep the baby from scratching her face with her little nails.
Hope that helps.

We brought it and didn’t use it at all. The hospital provided everything we needed. She will just want to bring a "going home" outfit and a blanket.

Nope – no need. The hospital will provide her with everything: Diapers, wipes, alcohol swabs, vasiline, etc.

all you need for the baby is a change of clothes.. if you want to bring some of your diapers and wipes you can but the hospitals supply you with those for the time that you are there..
there is no need for a full diaper bag

Absolutely not!! Haha!! not only does the hospital provide EVERYTHING, they also send you home with a bunch of stuff. I only changed a few diapers anyway teh 2 days I was there. The nurses did it the rest of the time. I had 2 bags full of diapers, wipes, undershirts, a thermometer, an spirator, you name it. They also give you formula and a nice diaper bag at my hospital. So, no, she doesn’t need to bring anything except the car seat and maybe a going home outfit depending on the weather. It was super hot here so he ended up in just an undershirt and a diaper.

I brought mine all packed up, but really I didn’t need anything but the clothes so if she has those packed in her bag I don’t see any reason to bring it. I did use mine to carry some of the stuff I got at the hospital home. If her hospital gives away as much stuff as mine did she might want to pack a couple walmart bags to help carry the stuff.

The hospital will provide diapers, wipes, a t-shirt, formula and blankets for the baby. She will need an outfit to bring baby home in, outfit for pictures, I used the some PJ’s for both, blanket for ride home, car seat in the car, and depending on climate, a thin or warm hat, heavy blanket if cold or snow. She does not need to bring diapers to the hospital, or numerous baby outfits or bottles or formula, but she should have all of that ready at home!! I say leave the diaper bag at home and pack a few baby things in mom’s bag!
