How to know if there is a diaper allergy?

I was wondering how you know if your baby is allergic to a certain brand of diapers. DD is always very red on her butt and girl parts when I change her, sometimes even around her legs. She never seems bothered by it but I was wondering if it is normal or if it could be signs of a diaper allergy.

We use Huggies Gentle Care.

  1. Well, I knew my son had a diaper allergy because he developed a rash around his waist. Obviously that wasn’t a typical "diaper rash", so it was fairly clear that it was the diapers for him. If you think it could be a diaper allergy, try switching for a week or so, and if it improves you were probably right. We used to use pampers, but switched first to 7th generation, and now to cloth diapers (but still use 7th gen. at night).

It could just be diaper rash (have you tried using any creams?), but it doesn’t hurt to change brands to try it out. Good luck.

My son has always had very sensitive skin and so I found that anytime we used any diaper other than pampers his skin would break out in mild hives. I even once had to scold the daycare he was at cause they kept putting other children’s diapers on him (even though he had enough of his own) and each time he would have hives all over where the diaper had touched him. The hives didn’t seem to bother him but then again he was quite little and had really bad eczema all over so it probably didn’t compare to everything else he was going through!

try using pampers depending on her size try the swaddlers if shes too big for those try the cruisers. my kids have very sensitive skin and those are the only thing that worked. you can also try bathing her in a oatmeal bath aveno makes it but its very costly i found that he off brands work just as well
