How can I tell if my 1 year old son has dark colored urine in a disposable diaper?

We are using disposable diapers at the moment. When I look at the inside of the diaper there is no evidence of urine until I look at the top of the inside panel on the side where the belly button would be. I see above that panel (not inside it) that there is some urine but it appears to be a bit deep yellow. Is this dark urine or is that just how the diaper happens to absorb? Please help because my son has dilated kidneys and I need to know if he is having dark urine. Thanks!

you’ll have to try to get him to pee into a container, like he’s giving a sample. Shouldn’t be to difficult, wait till bath time and while the water is running, help him into standing position as best as possible and put a plastic beaker up covering his willy, and make encouraging noises. Might take a few days to get it right. Good luck.

I would think it would show up dark just like any other kind of diaper. Another thing you could do is call the doctor and ask how the urine should appear when it’s in a disposable.
