Has anyone switched from disposable diapers to cloth diapers to help with potty training?

I have heard that it helps for kids who are potty training to wear cloth diapers because they can feel the wet more than in disposables. I would like to try this but don't want to spend the money on cloth diapers if it does not seem to make a difference. I also like the idea of not using disposables because of environmental reasons.

Just switch to plain old underwear then. That’s what we did.

No but you can go to sears or most retail stores that carry baby and toddler clothes and but very thick underware for your child. Same thing but they pull on and off easily. They also have vinyl pull up pants to go over the cloth underware. Good Luck.

You don’t necessarily need cloth diapers – you can go with thick underwear and plastic pants over them.

please don’t waste you rmoney on plastic panties!! I bought a BUNCH…just to find out..they are only good if your child is standing! My daughter was sitting on the floor playing with her toys, and peed, and sure enough, the *** went right out the sides. And they were kinda tight fitting too. So I would just buy regular panties. They say it’s best to potty train in the summer. Because if they have a accident your outside anyway. I am currently using pull ups…but I think they have slowed down the process. Because she was doing GREAT..and now..not so much.

it is from brith. it not right before they use the potty. also if u do buy underwear dont get the ones with the vinil they will start to smell after two uses. get the underwear then go to where they have the cloth diapers and the the lines for those they work better and dont smell at all. i used cloth diapers on my son when he was 6 to 9 months. i plan to go back soon. getting tired of wasteing my money on diapers. well good luck.

The biggest help with potty training for my children and those I worked with at a daycare center was putting them in regular underwear. Cloth diapers will just be a hassle and will not help either. They do make cotton pull on training pants that are washable. These would work too I guess because they don’t absorb much pee, but are a little thicker than just underwear. When I had my first daughter I started potty training her at two-and-a-half. She spoke really well and told me one day Mommy pullups are to *** pee in. From that point on I took her out of them and put her in underwear. She potty trained quickly after that. Even with the new pullups with the wetness liner and cool feel, they still absorb the *** so the children *** in them. It is a completely different feeling to have *** run down your legs and drench your clothes. Most children **** that, but some like my son did not mind at all. For most children it works though.

I have a suggestion … rather than spend the money on cloth diapers buy big girl/boy underwear for your child . to protect the clothes also buy waterproof over pants. Normally found in the same section as you would find your underwear for you toddler. They normally run about 3 $ for a package of 6 waterproof pants at walmart. the underwear you are going to buy anyway once you get them out of diapers . trust me the platic underwear and normal underwear are a lot cheaper than the cloth diapers you are thinking of spending
Word of warning though… you can wash the platic overpants but do not put them in the dryer….they get ruined that way !!! let them air dry….i learned that from experience….lol
