Are there any products out there to close a cloth diaper besides safety pins?
My daughter doesn't have two dimes to squeeze together and is now pregnant. She will have a washer and dryer, and I am making cloth diapers so she won't have the cost of disposables. Is there a product out there that will hold the diaper shut instead of safety pins? What other things do I need to consider?

With a newborn there is no need for a fastener with most diapers, a snug fitting cover is enough to hold the folded diaper on. Since they are so small fasteners can be difficult and they aren’t really needed.
If you are making diapers it would be great if you made a few diaper wraps from fleece or wool too. They breathe the best and can be used many times before washing.
Once the baby gets older and mobile you may want to buy some Snappi fasteners. They are a Y-shaped piece that hooks into the fabric of the diaper with little teeth.

I used pre-fold diapers and Snappi’s briefly, but I found it impossible to diaper our squirmy daughter. We switched to All-in-one and pocket cloth diapers and couldn’t be happier! There are free patterns online for making these types of diapers too. Even if you just make a few of these for your daughter I am sure she would love them for going out of the house.
