Adult Cloth Diapers – Some Basic Information

What is an adult cloth diaper?
An adult cloth diaper is a diaper which can be washed and re-used after every "accident" or bodily leakage. On the inside of an adult cloth diaper is traditionally an extra super absorbent micro fiber material to prevent bodily waste from causing discomfort or skin irritation. The exterior of an adult cloth diaper is traditionally a water proof material which prevents liquids from leaking out onto the exterior clothing, or anything which may be below or underneath the person wearing the diaper. Since cloth diapers are re-usable they should be through fully washed in between each incident, or when the bodily leakage soils the diaper to an un-healthy state, typically after 1 hour for heavy leakage such as period blood, or after birth bodily waste. Adult cloth diapers can be bleached after every incident which may cause a stain if not immediately treated.
What are the benefits of using a cloth diaper over a traditional disposable diaper?
o Cloth diapers only require a person to own at least 3 to 4 diapers or enough to hold someone off between washes, while disposable diapers must be tossed out after every accident and replaced with a new one, for someone with permanent bowel or bladder problems this can become very expensive.
o Cloth diapers with waterproof exteriors will not leak, while disposable diapers will leak after an accident or two, or if left on too long.
o Disposable diapers can get ripped or torn much easier than a cloth diaper.
